The Company:

This brilliant events supplier are experts in all things live events, AV, virtual events, & broadcasting. With a well-rounded and passionate team, they combine their technical knowledge with their creativity to bring events to life. They are looking for an experienced Technical Director to join their team on a permanent basis.

Position Terms:
  • Full-time, permanent role
  • Working full-time in the office
  • Salary: $110,000 - $125,000 plus super (depending on experience)
The Role:

The Technical Director is responsible for leading the technical vision, quality, and execution of all audio-visual productions across corporate events, conferences, hybrid events, and broadcasting. This role oversees technical planning, system design, onsite delivery, crew leadership, and continuous improvement of technical standards within the company.

Key Responsibilities include;
  • Technical Leadership & Strategy:
    • Define and uphold technical standards, workflows, and quality benchmarks across all AV departments (audio, vision, lighting, LED and broadcasting).
    • Support sales and project managers with technical guidance, equipment specifications, and show design solutions.
    • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies that improve production value and operational efficiency.
    • Oversee technical risk management, ensuring all events operate safely and reliably.
  • Event & Production Management:
    • Create technical plans, drawings, system diagrams, and signal flows for large-scale and complex events.
    • Lead all pre-production technical requirements including site visits, system testing, and equipment configuration.
    • Manage technical rehearsals and show calling for high-profile events where required.
    • Troubleshoot complex system issues on-site and ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Mentor and develop technical staff, supporting ongoing training, certification, and upskilling.
    • Allocate technical crew based on skill levels and project requirements.
    • Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused culture across all technical departments
  • Equipment & Systems Management:
    • Oversee the maintenance, testing, and configuration of all AV equipment.
    • Work with warehouse/operations teams to ensure inventory readiness and technical accuracy.
    • Assist in capital purchasing decisions, system upgrades, and long-term equipment strategy
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients and stakeholders.
    • Attend planning meetings and provide expert guidance on production feasibility and creative solutions.
    • Represent the company professionally at all times, maintaining strong relationships with clients, venues, and suppliers.
The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise, including an advanced knowledge across audio, lighting, video, LED, switching, networking, and broadcast/streaming systems. Experience working in corporate AV, event production, or technical leadership roles is essential for this role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate AV workflows, show calling, and live event production.
  • Experience with system integration, digital networks (Dante/AVB/NDI), and signal flow management.
  • Ability to design and implement complex multi-room and multi-feed technical setups.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make confident decisions during live events.
  • Strong documentation ability: CAD, Vectorworks, signal flow diagrams, and technical schematics.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to technical excellence.
  • Ability to work from the office 5 days a week.
  • Ability to travel for event delivery when required.
