An exciting National Association based in Melbourne who have an events team of 12 staff and a wider team of over 100 employees are looking for a Senior Manager, Events as a new permanent role within their team due to growth of events. This association has a great reputation in the space and runs amazing events that are getting great attention.
Position Terms:

- Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 plus super depending on experience
The Role: As the Senior Manager, Events, you will take the lead in delivering a high-profile national event, while also supporting the broader Events Team across a year-round calendar of conferences and professional development events.
This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional stakeholder management, strong commercial awareness and the ability to bring internal and external teams together to achieve key event timelines, financial targets and organisational objectives. The successful candidate will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex events and build strong relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, committees, suppliers, industry bodies and government stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include: - Leading supporting event teams to ensure all timelines, KPIs and deliverables are achieved
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of a major national event, while assisting with other key events throughout the year
- Ensuring registration, sponsorship and exhibition targets are achieved
- Managing relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, conference committees, suppliers, industry bodies and government representatives
- Collaborating closely with internal teams including Events, Marketing, Membership, Partnerships and senior leadership
- Overseeing the financial management of complex conference and event budgets
- Developing accurate budgets, forecasts and financial reporting
- Identifying, applying for and managing funding opportunities through government and industry bodies
- Managing all event logistics, operations, suppliers, contracts, timelines and onsite delivery requirements
- Supporting the development and implementation of strategic conference programs
- Managing abstract submissions and related conference content processes
- Overseeing registration systems, virtual event platforms and integrated event technology
- Managing hybrid, virtual, national and international events
- Mentoring and supporting team members where required
- Allocating workloads and project responsibilities to maximise team performance
- Contributing to event marketing activity, communications and content development
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiencies and enhance event outcomes
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with organisational objectives
- Managing event-related risk and responding quickly to changing requirements
- Attending events onsite, with some travel and after-hours work required
The Candidate: The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Event Manager or Conference Manager with a strong background delivering large-scale national and international conferences. Experience working within a membership association, professional body or professional conference environment will be highly regarded. You will be commercially aware, highly organised and confident managing complex stakeholder groups. This role requires someone who can lead event delivery, achieve sponsorship and exhibition targets, manage substantial budgets and remain solutions-focused within a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Minimum five years’ experience managing national and international conferences and events
- Demonstrated experience delivering multiple complex events simultaneously
- Experience working within a membership association, professional body or professional conference environment
- Strong end-to-end conference and event management experience
- Experience delivering in-person, hybrid and virtual events
- Demonstrated sponsorship, exhibition and registration management experience
- Strong understanding of conference program development and implementation
- Experience managing abstracts and conference content processes
- Advanced knowledge of event registration software, with EventsAIR experience highly preferred
- Confidence using virtual and integrated platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Vimeo
- Proven experience managing complex event budgets, forecasts and financial outcomes
- Understanding of government and industry funding opportunities for events
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence working with senior executives, boards, committees, government representatives and industry leaders
- Strong people leadership, mentoring and workload management capabilities
- Ability to contribute to event marketing strategies, communications and content
- Exceptional organisational, project management and time management skills
- A proactive, agile and solutions-focused approach
- Strong analytical skills, commercial judgement and decision-making ability
- Tertiary qualifications in Event Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
