The Company:


A well established event production supplier based in Perth is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery of their technical production business. The company works across live events, corporate events and major productions, providing technical solutions across audio visual, staging, lighting, LED and broader event production. This is a senior operational role for someone who understands technical production environments and enjoys leading teams, coordinating resources and ensuring complex events are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

  • Out of hours work required around event delivery
The Role:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operational delivery of projects and services across the business. This role will ensure events are delivered on time, within budget and to a high technical and operational standard while leading operational staff, contractors, logistics and warehouse functions. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Production and Technical team to ensure the right people, equipment and resources are allocated across projects and that all operational risks are identified and managed effectively.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and manage all operational aspects of event delivery.
  • Ensure events are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
  • Develop and improve operational systems, workflows and procedures.
  • Support senior leadership with strategic operational planning.
  • Manage crew scheduling, labour allocation and contractor engagement.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all projects.
  • Coordinate freelance technicians, production crew, logistics personnel and suppliers.
  • Build a positive, accountable and high performance operational culture.
  • Work closely with the team to allocate resources.
  • Review event requirements and ensure operational readiness.
  • Identify operational risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Monitor project profitability and resource utilisation.
  • Coordinate transport schedules, freight and equipment movements.
  • Oversee loading, unloading and event logistics processes.
  • Optimise vehicle and transport utilisation.
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
  • Maintain SWMS, risk assessments and operational procedures.
  • Lead safety initiatives and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure compliance with venue regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Assist with monitoring project costs and operational budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, venues, suppliers and contractors.
  • Attend key client meetings where operational input is required.
  • Support the delivery of exceptional client experiences.
  • Maintain equipment readiness, warehouse organisation and inventory accuracy.
The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have strong experience within technical production, live events or an event supplier environment and will be confident managing operational teams, resources and complex event delivery. You will have a strong understanding of audio visual, staging, lighting, LED and technical production environments and be comfortable making operational decisions under pressure. This role would suit someone who is highly organised, commercially aware and genuinely enjoys leading from the front.

The successful candidate will also have:
  • Experience within event production, technical production, live events or a related industry is essential for this role. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing operational teams and resources.
  • Strong understanding of audio visual, staging, lighting, LED and technical event production.
  • Strong crew scheduling and workforce planning experience.
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers and logistics.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability.
  • Sound financial and commercial acumen.
  • Experience monitoring labour, project costs and resource utilisation.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS and operational compliance.
  • A proactive and solutions focused approach.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • A hands on leadership style and willingness to lead from the front.
  • A current Australian driver's licence.
  • Experience across large corporate or sporting events would be highly regarded.
  • A Forklift Licence, HR Driver's Licence or WHS qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Experience with project management and resource scheduling software would also be highly regarded.
