The Company: A growing and dynamic event agency based in Sydney is looking for an experienced National Business Development Manager to join their team.
Working across conferences, incentives and special events, the agency partners with a range of clients to develop and deliver creative event solutions. The Role: The National Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, developing strong client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the agency. This is a highly client-facing role suited to an experienced business development professional who understands the corporate events and MICE industry and can confidently identify opportunities, open doors and convert prospects into long-term clients. Working across the full business development journey, you will develop new client relationships, respond to briefs, prepare proposals and pitches and create commercially viable event solutions.
Key responsibilities will include: - Proactively identify, research and engage prospective corporate clients.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified new business opportunities.
- Conduct prospect outreach, introductions and business development meetings.
- Manage opportunities through the sales cycle from initial engagement through to conversion.
- Develop strong, trusted relationships with prospective and existing clients.
- Understand client objectives and translate briefs into commercially viable event solutions.
- Identify opportunities to grow client accounts and develop long-term partnerships.
- Lead the development of compelling proposals and responses to client briefs.
- Prepare and deliver confident presentations and pitches to senior stakeholders.
- Develop detailed event budgets with consideration for costs, margins and profitability.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure proposed solutions are creative, operationally achievable and commercially sound.
- Maintain accurate CRM, pipeline and client information.
- Provide regular reporting on business development activity, opportunities and conversion.
- Identify priority sectors, prospective accounts and new commercial opportunities.
- Represent the agency at client meetings, networking events, site inspections and industry functions.
- Share market and client insights with the wider team to support ongoing business growth.
- Contribute to a client-focused culture and consistently deliver a high level of service.
The Candidate: The successful candidate will have proven business development or sales experience within an event agency, corporate events, MICE or a related industry. You will be commercially driven, confident and persuasive, with the ability to develop relationships with senior decision-makers and convert opportunities into new business. You will also understand the importance of balancing strong sales results with exceptional client service and long-term account development.
- Proven experience winning new business and growing client accounts.
- A strong understanding of the corporate events and/or MICE industry.
- Experience developing and presenting proposals and pitches.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence presenting and communicating with senior stakeholders.
