The Company:

This fabulous event supplier is the Australian leader in supplying installations, exhibits and designs in their industry. They've been serving their clients for many years, creating stunning installations and show-stopping event designs for their clients. They are looking for a highly experienced Director of Operations & Finance to join their senior leadership team.

Position Terms:
  • Full-Time Permanent Role working 5 days in the office located in the Inner-South Suburbs of Sydney
  • Competitive Salary: Renumeration to be negotiated based on experience, but is a senior leadership position
  • Weekend and outside of hours work for events when required
The Role:

The Director of Operations & Finance will report into the CEO and will act as a transformational leader, responsible for planning, organising, directing, and controlling day-to-day operations to ensure consistent delivery across the Finance and Warehouse & Logistic teams. This role will also have a large strategic impact, with direct influence on company direction as part of the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities include;
  • Financial Strategy & Leadership
    • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company growth objectives through quarterly and annual senior leadership strategic sessions.
    • Provide day-to-day financial operations leadership including statements, BAS/GST returns, payroll, and general ledger processing.
    • Execute business planning and forecasting aligned with strategic plans and our Simple Numbers framework.
    • Drive commercial analysis including margin/yield optimisation and Direct/Management Labour Efficiency Ratios.
  • Operational Excellence & Standardisation
    • Integrate with company-wide Project Management's standardised processes to ensure on-time, on-forecast, specification delivery.
    • Optimise departmental structures, systems, and procedures for cross-departmental collaboration efficiency.
    • Ensure profitability and productivity targets are achieved with full team understanding and accountability.
  • Supply Chain & Logistics Mastery
    • Lead procurement processes, warehouse strategy, and inventory control including slow-moving stock management.
    • Coordinate logistics for complete clarity on deliveries aligned with production and installation schedules.
    • Develop strategic vendor relationships with contingency planning and sustainable practices.
    • Drive cost optimisation through strategic vendor management and process improvements.
  • People & Culture Leadership
    • Provide transformational leadership across finance, warehouse, logistics, and supply chain teams.
    • Create an innovation culture aligned with company values while identifying talent gaps and succession planning.
    • Retain A-players and develop virtual bench strategies for key roles including your own succession.
  • Strategic Technology & Real Estate
    • Direct outsourced technology team to deliver measurable business value aligned with growth objectives.
    • Optimise real estate portfolio for operational efficiency, client experience, and cost effectiveness.
    • Ensure robust business continuity and risk mitigation strategies.
The Candidate:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a finance leadership position within the events, installation, or supply chain sectors. Exceptional financial management & commercial acumen skills are required for this role, as well as strong operational excellence and strategic thinking abilities.
  • A deep understanding across supply chain, logistics, project management, installation & dismantling, and/or technical operations is essential.
  • Ability to manage, lead and motivate teams and create high-performance culture while expecting excellence.
  • Comprehensive expertise in forecasting, reporting, and commercial analysis with a continuous improvement track record is essential for this role.
  • Strong skills in analysing of project costs versus forecasts with accurate profitability tracking.
  • Ability to establish new standardised processes, identify operational challenges, implement efficiency improvements.
  • Ability to learn quickly, generate innovative approaches, think holistically about complex situations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work from the office 5 days a week (office located in Inner-South Sydney).
