The Company:This fabulous hotel located in Townsville are well-known for delivering relaxing stays for business and holiday travellers. Renowned for their award-winning venues and experienced planning and catering teams, they are looking for a Conference & Events Sales Manager to join their team.

The Role:
The Conference & Event Sales Manager is responsible for developing sales initiatives and strategies to achieve sales goals and enhance productivity and profits within the Conference & Events team.
Key Responsibilities include;
- Develop and implement sales strategies for the team to ensure targets are achieved.
- Develop and implement sales conversion targets for the team and ensure these are measured monthly.
- Monitor competitors within region and assess relevance to current sell strategies.
- Maintenance of Conference incentive database of key contacts/clients.
- Prepare and make recommendations on sales forecasts ensuring accuracy within agreed ratios.
- Monitor and report any issues relating to processing of deposits and payments for the team.
- Prepare weekly forecast report detailing upcoming events and communicate same to all operating departments.
- Chair and drive the weekly banquet event order meetings and ensure their efficiency.
- Provide quotations for Conference & Events proposals covering venue, function, menu and accommodation costs ensuring revenue is maximised.
- Ensure team succeeds in delivering exceptional events in order to guarantee client satisfaction.
- Coordination and hosting of familiarisation and site inspection activities, including follow-up.
- Attend outside sales calls, trade shows and meetings in the pursuance of the business and leads.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will have experience working within the hospitality and/or events industries in a sales role. Experience with forecasting and budgeting principles with the ability to meet revenue targets is essential for this role.
- An ability to understand and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Confident and articulate communication, negotiation, relationship and networking skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to make sound decisions and understand commercial implications.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of team members.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrated initiative in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours for events and client meetings when required.
