The Company: A leading event hire, styling and production company is looking for an experienced Branch Operations Manager to lead their Melbourne operation.
The business delivers furniture hire, styling, custom production and event solutions across corporate events, private celebrations, brand activations, exhibitions and major events. With a strong national presence and a busy Melbourne operation, this role will take ownership of the day to day running of the branch and ensure every event is prepared, dispatched, delivered, installed and collected accurately and on time.

- Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 plus super
The Role:
The Branch Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the Melbourne branch, overseeing warehouse operations, logistics, staffing, stock, transport and event delivery. This is a hands on leadership role suited to someone who is equally comfortable managing operational planning and leading from the warehouse floor. You will work closely with the Sydney head office while taking full ownership of the Melbourne operation, ensuring the team is well resourced, jobs are planned accurately and events are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities will include: - Take overall responsibility for the day to day operation of the Melbourne branch.
- Ensure confirmed event jobs are accurately picked, packed, checked and prepared for dispatch.
- Oversee the return, cleaning, checking and storage of event hire equipment.
- Maintain an organised, efficient and safe warehouse environment.
- Coordinate stock movements and transfers between Melbourne and Sydney.
- Conduct stocktakes and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Identify damaged, missing or maintenance required stock and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Continuously improve warehouse layout, workflows and operational efficiency.
- Plan and coordinate daily and weekly delivery and collection schedules.
- Allocate vehicles, drivers and crew according to event requirements.
- Review upcoming jobs to ensure appropriate labour, transport, equipment and timings are allocated.
- Coordinate event bump ins and bump outs across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
- Ensure crews receive accurate run sheets, job information and site instructions.
- Liaise with venues, clients and suppliers regarding access, loading docks and delivery requirements.
- Troubleshoot operational issues quickly and minimise disruption to events.
- Support onsite installations and collections where required.
- Lead, supervise and support warehouse, driver and operations staff.
- Prepare rosters based on confirmed event requirements and workload.
- Coordinate casual and subcontracted labour during peak periods.
- Manage team performance, productivity and operational standards.
- Recruit, onboard and train operational staff in conjunction with senior management.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and operational briefings.
- Build a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, safety and care for equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock transfers.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance of equipment, vehicles and warehouse assets.
- Maintain WHS compliance across the warehouse, vehicles and operational teams.
- Manage operational costs including labour, transport, subcontractors and branch expenses.
- Monitor overtime and casual labour requirements.
- Source and manage local transport providers, subcontractors and operational suppliers.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary operational costs.
- Work within agreed branch budgets and provide operational reporting.
- Maintain close communication with the Sydney Operations and Accounts teams.
- Participate in weekly planning and scheduling meetings.
- Review forward bookings and identify stock, staffing or logistical requirements early.
- Escalate operational risks before they affect event delivery.
The Candidate: The successful candidate will have proven experience managing operations within events, warehousing, logistics, equipment hire or a similar fast paced environment. You will be a practical and highly organised leader who can plan ahead, manage multiple priorities and make confident decisions under pressure. Experience within events, furniture hire, exhibitions, removals or equipment hire would be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will also have:
- Proven experience in warehouse, logistics, event operations or branch management.
- Experience managing a warehouse and operational team.
- Strong transport, delivery and scheduling experience.
- Strong people leadership and team management skills.
- A good understanding of WHS requirements within a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Excellent organisational and problem solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing labour and operational costs.
- Experience using inventory, warehouse or hire management systems.
- A hands on leadership style and willingness to work alongside the team when required.
- Strong communication skills.
- A calm, decisive and solutions focused approach.
- High standards around presentation, quality and safety.
- A current Australian driver's licence.
- Forklift licence preferred, or willingness to obtain.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required during peak event periods.
