The Company:

Our client is a leading events supplier in Australia and supplies Audio Visual and Lighting services to major events as well as servicing 9 venues in Melbourne. The company are looking for a Head Senior Technician specialised in Lighting that can manage clients as well as all lighting technical requirements from developing plans through to delivery on site. 

The Role:

The Technical Event Director will report into a Operations Manager and will be responsible for developing larger scale events for clients that have difficult technical components. This role will manage other technical team members and production crew.  
Key responsibilities will include;
  • Working with clients to scope requirements 
  • Developing technical drawings for clients and venue teams 
  • Be able to problem solve and work with existing equipment to find the best outcome 
  • Managing client relationships 
  • Supplier relationship management
  • OHS management
  • An understanding of on site requirements and delivery with an understanding of crewing as well that's required
  • Preparing a labour schedule for all jobs allocated from planning to completion 
  • Work with the project managers, site supervisors and sales staff, develop a pre-event plan for each job 
  • Deliver and supervise the job onsite where possible ensuring it is on time and below budget 
The Candidate: 

Having a background in audio visual and lighting you will be able to create plans for the most technical of events. You will have a great client understanding and be able to work with clients to get their ideas into workable solutions.   
  • Experience in AV for an Events Supplier seen as essential 
  • Technical knowledge with an ability to create AV plans and event layouts
  • An extensive understanding of technical requirements ie lighting, stage and sound
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in developing and maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work to deadlines and within a high pressure environment
