The Company:

A great powerhouse publishing business based in Sydney that strives to strengthen business communities and has multiple streams within the business model. They have a great internal team and an open culture and passion for training their staff this is a brilliant team environment. They are looking for a new Events Manager to join their internal events team.  

The Role:

The Event Manager role reports into the Head of Events and works collaboratively with them and wider teams, to create, implement and then execute the successful delivery of events. Events range from awards ceremonies, gala dinners, roadshows, attending exhibition events and more. 

Key Responsibilities include;
  • Overseeing all planning, operations and logistics for assigned events, ensuring consistencies in brand experience across all event executions
  • Developing a critical time path for each event and ensuring it is adhered to
  • Working to and developing production templates for each event
  • Delegate management, including overseeing ticket bookings, responding to enquiries professionally & within the agreed time frames
  • Working with the Content Curator to manage speaker liaison – re-confirming speaker and session details and coordinating AV requirements
  • Negotiating and booking appropriate venues for scheduled events when required
  • Ensuring an up-to-date knowledge of existing and new venue options in Sydney and Australia’s other major cities
  • Liaising with event sponsors and the sales team to ensure all agreed entitlements are delivered upon and long term relationships with sponsors are established
  • Coordinating staffing requirements and scheduling for onsite event delivery and running staff briefings (including editorial colleagues for moderation of sessions)
  • Planning room layouts to meet event scheduling, sponsorship and exhibition requirements
  • Coordinating venue management, caterers, stand designers, contractors and equipment hire
  • Organising facilities for speaker and sponsor hospitality and the media
  • Working with AV suppliers to develop stage set concepts and event AV requirements
  • Liaising with designers in the production of promotional material, signage, posters, programs and sales brochures
  • Establishing and maintaining great relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
  • Liaising with awards judges and running awards judging both online and in person
  • Ensuring event budgets are accurately updates and costs are managed efficiently
  • Overseeing ticket bookings and regularly reporting on attendance numbers
The Candidate:

The candidate for this role will display high level judgement and decision making ability, whilst having a pragmatic approach with the ability to work collaboratively with strong adaptability skills. You should have sound negotiation and influencing skills, whilst being highly proactive and competitive. The ability to thrive under pressure is a must with demonstrated flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in planning, scheduling and running corporate events and the ability to work in a small, busy team with demanding timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to create, monitor and evaluate a budget
  • Impeccable time management skills with the the ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritise tasks efficiently
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel interstate and overseas when required
  • Flexible and adaptable to working outside of core hours
