The Company:
This Hospitality Group is a power house in the Australian Hospitality space. The amazing team plans and executes a range of corporate and social events, tailored to the clients needs with precision. They own and operate within multiple venues across Melbourne, and they are looking for a Director of Operations to lead multiple departments across the Group.
Position Terms:
- Full-Time Permanent Role
- Salary: $160,000 - $180,000 plus super depending on experience
The Role:
The Director of Operations has overall responsibility for the event planning, operational success, and the food & beverage standards and compliance of the Group. This role will lead 4 departments and is responsible for ensuring those departments are resourced and trained to deliver exceptional client outcomes. The Director of Operations has a key role in setting operational objectives, achieving budget targets, and ensuring various legal and statutory requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities include;
- Assume a strategic position on the Senior Leadership Team to enhance the innovation, culture and success of the Group.
- Lead and mentor the key Department Heads of the Group’s F&B and operational departments.
- Ensure systems are in place for continuous and effective quality control of event planning, and food & beverage products and service.
- Develop and implement required processes to ensure an effective interface between the Event Operations and Event Production teams, with a primary objective of achieving seamless event delivery on-the-day.
- Actively monitor client feedback to identify trends and opportunities to improve event planning, product quality and service delivery, and implement corrective action where required.
- Ensure all team members within the departments you oversee, are receiving regular, constructive feedback regards their accountabilities, performance and results.
- Participate in the setting of annual budgets.
- Ensure key expenses are being managed to agreed budgets and targets, with particular focus on controlling labour costs and COGS.
- Participate in setting, implementing and reviewing of annual and long term business plans, with a focus on continual improvement of the business.
- Partner with Executive Chef to develop and annually revise a food strategy, encompassing current dining trends, effective management of dietary requirements, waste minimisation and external collaborations that value add to client options and experiences.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Policies within your departments.
- Assume the role of Manager on Duty as required, generally at least one shift per week, to act as the point of escalation and/or support across all departments.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in the Hospitality and Events Industry, currently or most recently working in a senior leadership role. Exceptional communication and leadership skills are required.
- Experience managing senior-level direct reports, showcasing exceptional leadership and mentorship skills.
- Experience managing large budgets, with a focus on controlling labour costs and COGS.
- Experience with developing and implementing short-term and long-term business plans.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial mindset.
- Ability to work on-site 5 days a week.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required and must have availability for weekend work if required.
